The Senior Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Franklin, WI will analyze, design, develop, deploy, and maintain risk products, implementations, and upgrades. Build and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CICD) pipelines to increase speed of implementing new features. Clear backlog of critical and non-critical defects, and rapidly test and deploy new and modified features to shorten release cycles. Work closely with business, product, and IT technical stewards to gather requirements for features, providing data for regulatory-driven audits and other business units. Establish, aggregate, and share team standards and best practices for code development and testing. Bug fixing and debugging issues and performing root cause analysis for P1 and P2 level tickets. Perform data analysis and data research to recommend ways to improve the quality of data. Mentor and provide technical leadership to team members. Collaborate with testing team, and other enterprise application architects to ensure application changes meets specified requirements by performing unit testing, integration testing, volume, and regression testing. Utilize CICS, JCL, CHGMAN, FILE MANAGER, Scheduler, VSAM, Fault Analyzer, REXX, and SAS. Work with mainframe DB2 database applications and SQL Server. Work with quality control team, testing team, and other enterprise architects to identify key learnings for each release, perform root cause analysis for all issues and defects identified, publish within organization, and revise best practices to eliminate or reduce defects for future releases. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. Salary $123,386- $203,840 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus 6 years of experience as a software developer or in a related occupation. Experience must include 5 years with each of the following: (1) PL/I and COBOL language for z/OS mainframe; (2) CICS, JCL, CHGMAN, FILE MANAGER, Scheduler, VSAM, Fault Analyzer, REXX, and SAS; (3) Mainframe DB2 database applications or SQL Server; (4) CICD pipelines; (5) Performing peer reviews on code and design; (6) Development methodologies including Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid; and (7) Bug fixing, debugging issues, and performing root cause analysis.
