Position Description:

In the role of Business Manager you will be working in the Cancer Center.

Purpose

This position is responsible for ensuring fiscal stability and management of key business functional areas of the Cancer Center through active post award grant and project oversight, active review, and budgetary control of center financial portfolio, identify revenue/expense trends to ensure financial target margin and goals are met in support of CC strategic goals.

Primary Functions

  • Work closely with the Director of Finance & Operations, CC leadership, departments, and institutional partners to ensure that the CC business operations are complying with institutional financial policies
  • Provide active grant management support for Advancing Healthier Wisconsin awards, and NIH federal awards to ensure expenditures and allocations are compliant with award requirements.
  • Monitors monthly financial transactions and reports financial performance to the CC Director of Finance
  • Monitor and initiate changes to labor allocations as needed to prevent operational deficits
  • Produce and submit funding re-budget requests, and cost transfers for the CC & CTO
  • Assist the Director of Finance with the development and submission of the annual operating budget
  • Contribute to the development or implementation of new systems, processes, and tools to enhance financial operational oversight of the CC business and finance operations.
  • Produce quarterly shared resource metric data for CC Shared Resources
  • Oversight of compliance with MCW, federal, state and local regulations pertaining to grant awards or sponsor requirements.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

Strong people and team building skills, Knowledge of federal funding and post award grant management, basic accounting, mathematics, administration, English language, law, government, and human resources. Work requires resource management, mathematics, problem solving, coordinating work activities, critical thinking, systems analysis, operations analysis, time management, writing, active listening, and active learning skills. Speech clarity, speech recognition, finger dexterity, and wrist-finger speed while operating computers abilities required.

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree

Minimum Required Experience: 6 years

Preferred Experience: Post award grant management and financial

Field: Grant management and/or Financial operations
