JOB SUMMARY

Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua? We have a great opportunity for a Facility Operator. This role is under the direction of the Field Supervisor is responsible performing all tasks related to customer service and the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, emergency repair, relocation, and retirements of all facilities related to the water distribution, water pumping and treatment facilities, the wastewater collection system, and the wastewater treatment facilities located in Hawthorn Woods, IL.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Operate and maintain the facilities and equipment related to the wastewater treatment lagoons, lift stations, collection systems, and spray irrigation consisting of fixed sprinklers with pop-up heads for land application of wastewater effluent
  • Operate and maintain the facilities and equipment related to the water treatment plant, well facilities, pumping and storage facilities as needed.
  • Operate and maintain the vehicles and equipment used in the water and wastewater facilities.
  • Perform and record inspections, tests, and data on the systems' and facilities' operations.
  • Prepare reports required by the Company, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the Illinois Commerce Commission, or other jurisdictional entities.
  • Collect, analyze, and record water and wastewater samples for regulatory compliance and process control monitoring for proper operation of the systems.
  • Respond to customer service, water distribution and/or collection system work orders.
  • Performing the duties listed above in a safe manner following OSHA, IDOL, USDOT, Company and any other applicable safety related rules and regulations.
  • Assists with other tasks or projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a high school diploma or the equivalent
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's Operator's License.

Based on our company'sCareer Progression and your current licenses, you can be hired into one of the following titles/ levels:

  • FO Trainee - Will be required to get either a Class C water or Class 3 waste water license within 18 months of employment.
  • FO I -Minimum license requirement of Class C water or Class 3 waste water.
  • FO II Must meet dual licensing requirements in above matrix of at least a Class C water and Class 3 waste water.
  • FO III -Must meet dual licensing requirements of a FO II.
  • Minimum license requirement of Class B water and Class 2 waste water.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; communicate effectively (clearly, concisely and professionally) with internal customers
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to readily read, understand and accurately follow operating instructions both written and verbal
  • Possess the mathematical ability to perform calculations to determine various ratios, dosages, and volumetric calculations that are required for the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plants and Water System
  • Computer literate in computer database and ability to operate plant processes through computer controlled equipment
  • Conscientious in respect for the responsibility to safeguard the public water supply and prevent pollution of area surface waters

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and /or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment in excess of 50lbs and the ability to work in confined spaces. Lift test will be required at part of employment for this position.
  • Working condition include travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents.
