WSP is currently initiating a search for a Principal Resource Geologist for our Lakewood, Colorado office.
Compensation and Benefits:

Expected salary: $89,500 - $182,400

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide geologic and structural interpretation and modeling.
  • Geologic database and QA/QC review in advance of resource modelling efforts
  • Statistical and geostatistical analysis of sample/drill hole data
  • Mineral Resource Modeling from both a depositional and economic viewpoint
  • Understand mining methods sufficiently to interpret the adequacy of a model for the proposed mine production.
  • Preparation of written presentations including memoranda, large reports, and client presentations.
  • Resources and reserve reporting for precious metals, base metals, and other commodities.
  • Business development, proposals, project and client management.
  • Flexibility in supporting both engineering and geologic aspects of projects, as necessary.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geologic Engineering or related fields.
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience including relevant experience in an operating mine or exploration group.
  • Qualification as a Qualified/Competent Person for Mineral Resource and Reserve reporting to international standards.
  • An in depth understanding of the work required to initiate and complete analytical studies.
  • Excellent computer skills. Proficiency in a computerized mine modeling system, experience with Datamine or Leapfrog software is desirable
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, leadership, and client interaction/communication skills.
  • Willingness to mentor and develop other personnel.
  • An achievement-oriented and highly motivated individual with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to travel to support business needs.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in a second language is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of data and geological databases.
  • Experience and willingness to present in technical conferences, and to undertake business dedvelopment activities
